"I don't want to die, Cry" The blonde whispered, voice shaking as tears began to stream down his cheeks. He couldn't believe what it had come down to; Him pointing a gun at his best friend, and his friend pointing one at him. "So…" The brunette trailed off, tears rolling off the bottom of a cracked and bloody mask. Both their guns trembled from the unsteadiness of their hands, fingers apprehensively wrapped around the trigger, waiting.
"H-how did it get like this Cry?" The Swede asked, a lump burning in his throat. "I….I don't know friend but we have to end this…" The American said softly, lowering his gun slightly. Felix flinched at the movement and tensed up, but didn't shoot.
"I'm not going to kill you…" Cry said somberly, "If it takes one of us dying to make things right again… Then… I'll die…"
The Swede was stunned, tears burning his eyes, "I can't kill you Cry…" He managed to choke out through the pain in his throat. The American just let out a soft, halfhearted laugh. "You won't have to friend. They said one of us had to die… They didn't say how."
The blonde was speechless, eyes wide with panic, "No Cry, you can't be thinking-" He stopped his sentence short, stomach twisting in knots.
The brunette took in a sharp breath, "It'll be okay friend… Everything will go back to normal; no one will remember anything, not the murders, not the pain…" Cry let out his breath out in a shaky sigh, and looked down at the ground. "I'm doing this for my Mom, my brother, my sister, all my friends and family… and I'm doing this for you…" A heavy silence fell between the two, as the weight of the American's words crushed the Swede. "I love you Felix, and if this is what it takes… You won't remember me any way… You'll be okay…"
The American reached for his mask, his hands trembling, "And since you won't remember me… I want to do one more thing before I…" He stopped his sentence short, not able to bring himself to say it. He removed his mask, showing the Swede his face for the first time. "C-Cry…" The blonde said stunned at the face in front of him. Though his cheeks were stained with tears and eyes red, he was still the most beautiful thing the Swede had ever seen. Cry took the few strides to the stunned blonde, a weak smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Cry you can't…" Felix began, but was cut off by a kiss.
The kiss was soft and warm, not invasive, just full of longing and love. "I have to…" Cry said, breaking the kiss, hovering his lips close to the blondes. "I love you Cry" The Swede breathed, his lips brushing against the American's. "I love you too Pewds" Cry smiled, pressing his lips back onto the Swede's, and pulling him close to him. The kiss left them wanting more, to stay in each other's arm, but the American knew the longer he stayed, he harder it would be.
The brunette tore away from the blonde and took three long strides back to where he originally stood, back towards the Swede. "It only counts if you see me die…" Cry repeated the rules they were given in the beginning. Slowly the American turned around and reluctantly brought the gun to the side of his head, tears flowing heavily down his cheeks. "I love you Felix…" Cry said, voice shaking as he looked the blonde dead in the eye. "I love you too Cry" The Swede managed to cough up. The brunette took a deep breath in, held it, and pulled the trigger.
The Swede's eyes filled with horror as he watched the bullet enter the American's head, and saw the way his eyes rolled back into his skull, and how he fell limp to the ground.
Felix shot up in bed, heart pounding, sweat beading on his forehead and his head pounding. Everything was as it normally was, nothing like it was in his dream. The dream itself didn't scare the Swede, it was the man at the end of it who kissed him, told him he loved him that confused him.
Who was that guy?
